image.pngSt Michael School is participating in the Green Bins in Schools program which is an extension of the City’s residential green bin program.

The program provides an excellent opportunity to educate children on how to use the green bin by diverting food waste and soiled paper products from landfill.

Participating in the Green Bins in Schools program helps students learn about and take action on an important local environmental initiative that contributes to the overall health of our environment.

Additionally,  having a food waste diversion program in place at our school earns us additional points towards our EcoSchools application.

NEW plastic bag option

Plastic bags can be used as a bagging option for household organics in the green bin.

No need to purchase plastic or compostable bags. You can reuse common ones around your home:

  • bread bags
  • milk bags
  • grocery and retail bags
  • bags from the veggie department
We are asking our families to Please send in your plastic bags so that we can reduce reuse recycle them in our green bins!

Thank you for supporting this initiative!
